Boracay – Philippines

Funny enough, the subject came up last night during a party and it looks like we are going to go there later this year in November.

The first and only time I was there, was in May 2009.

Relatively speaking, it is not far from Shanghai and with a 4 hours flight / trip is one of the nearest tropical destinations.

There was no direct flights to Boracay (I do not think there will ever be).

So to get there, one has to catch a flight to Manila first.

Schedules are such that you have to spend a night there and catch a plane first thing in the morning to Caticlan. The runway is very short and only propeller planes can land there. Flights to and from this Caticlan are bounded by sunrise and sunset limitations as well.

Once in Caticlan, one has to hitch a ride to the port

more to come…
